The Lake

Welcome to the Cavagnac Lake! A stunning 52-acre natural lake nestled in an Aveyronnaise valley, in South West France.

Lac Cavagnac (the biggest in the area), also called the Bournazel lake, offers people passionate about nature and fishing, an idyllic setting. Located about 1km from Bournazel, (20km from Rodez Airport ), in a small, magnificent village with a castle (a jewel of the Renaissance), the lake exudes history of the last century. As part of the same area, the lake is as old as the castle and is now owned by Mr Caville. Formely, it was a “breeding lake” for tench, perch, pike and silver fish. Every two years, it was completely emptied and the fish sold, except the carp (of course!) which have always been put back into the lake.

The Cavagnac lake is 52 acres. Its perimeter is about 3200 m and its depth can reach 15 feet (it is located at 490 meters above the sea level and is made up with 3 big bays and 2 small ones, which favours the biodiversity and wintering spots. It is supplied with 3 springs (1 situated in the middle of the lake) and surrounded by humid fields, lands and woods. Today, Cavagnac is part of the heritage protection because of its ecological and landscape history.
